However, at the same time it brings up a variety of challenges for the IT-department.

  • How to meet the security policy requirements at the same time?
  • How to choose the right solution for your requirements and spend fewer resources?

What’s on your network? Identify / Enforce / Protect

Richard Leadbetter,
Security Lead, Aruba, HPE EMEA

The approach is to focus less on outright security risks, and instead focus more on the fact that security is required to enable business. For example we can’t have the “anywhere enterprise” that staff and businesses would like without security – we need to know who they are, where they are and how they are connecting before we can ensure they get access to the right business services. – for example without things such as single sign-on, working on multiple cloud hosted corporate apps on a smart-phone is almost impossible. If we can’t understand how to securely enable the digital workplace / mobile enterprise then how will be able to get the best out of IoT? Business wants to use the latest technologies to allow more disruptive working practices – it’s our job to make that easy, and it can only be made easy if it’s done in a controlled way, securely.
